SWANMORE METHODIST CHURCH

 SMC

MISSION STATEMENT

Swanmore Methodist Church seeks to serve God in the heart of Swanmore by providing a focus of loving, caring Christian witness in the community, in an Ecumenical partnership with other Churches in the area.

As a Church we believe in the universal love of God as revealed in the Christian faith and seek to offer Spirit led Christian worship and a caring, harmonious fellowship for all. We aim to share God’s love through our life and witness in our local community and beyond.

AIM

To worship God, share the gospel of Christ, serve the local community and support the world wide mission of the Church.

What do we seek: -

• To deepen and celebrate our relationship with God in worship, prayer, Bible study, and everyday life and relationships.

• To encourage growth, through promotion of activities within the Church.

• To examine ways to attract new families into our fellowship.

• To consider how our resources can be deployed to achieve our aim.

• To recognise each other’s gifts and to review the internal structure of the Church to find more effective ways of administrating the activities of the Church.

We currently have 5 stewards, secretary and a treasurer.

Every home in Swanmore is visited throughout the year by members of both churches seeking prayer requests which are used on the second Sunday monthly in our respective services. United services are held monthly and also at specific festivals in the church calendar.

Looking forward:

We are currently in the process of agreeing an extension to modernise and increase the size of our building to make it an attractive worship centre and meeting place within the heart of our village.

We are currently in discussion with the ministry team at St Barnabas to advertise for a Christian Youth Lay worker to work with both churches and schools with a view to increase our youth work and bring young people into a relationship with Jesus.
